Secret Agent Man loves this blog and eagerly awaits for each post to be published so that he can read it.
He is always coming up with new post ideas and commenting that stories I tell him should be published on the blog.
Since this has been a great way to organize my photos and use them instead of just saving them to the hard drive, I whole heartedly agree with him and try to write it all down for him to look through for years to come.
Recently he insisted that I publish the story about the garbage can and roller skates.
You see it all started with the implementation of operation kind deed. I wanted him to start performing kind deeds just because they are the right thing to do. Just finding something nice to do for others for no reason.
We decided that him rolling the neighbors garbage can back to their garage at the end of garbage day was a kind deed and something he could do. He has been doing it for several weeks.
One particularly hot day, he was having trouble rolling it. The cans are pretty large, bigger than him and can be awkward at his height. He gets in there and wrestles it and takes control though.
When he finished, I told him good job and said "Just don't ever do that in roller skates".
When I was young, maybe a few years older than he is now, my older sister was rolling the garbage can to put it away at the end of garbage day. She had to pull it over the lawn to put it on the side of the house.
She made it to the designated spot but there was a problem. She was wearing roller skates the whole time and.....she broke her leg.
We used to wear those roller skates non-stop. The old fashioned kind with four wheels. There was no second thought to walking through grass in the roller skates or in performing multiple outdoor chores in them.
Anyway, she ended up with a cool cast and crutches, and we all learned the valuable lesson. Never roll a garbage can in roller skates.
