San Antonio in the summer

With Special Agent Dad's brother and his wife visiting, we wanted to make sure we took a trip to San Antonio to see the River Walk and the Alamo.

We headed down in the late afternoon because the temperatures were hovering near 105 and the sun was blazing.  We have actually dropped down to the low nineties this week!  Too bad it wasn't this cool while they were here!

Our first stop was a boat tour through the river.  It was very hot and sweaty.  and beautiful.

After the tour, we were about to pass out so we headed inside an air conditioned spot to plan our next move.  Secret Agent Man grabbed some pistachio gelato and we decided to go right to dinner.

We did Tex Mex (of course) and started with some margaritas.  We had decided to eat indoors and soon SIL and I were freezing.  We took our drinks outside to the patio while the boys waited inside for the food.  Meanwhile.....they got busy eating and completely failed to tell us the food had come.

After dinner, we walked around the river walk past some water features and to the mall.  We were stalling down by the river to give the sun some time to go down but, the mall was closed so we headed up to the Alamo.

The Alamo is a short few blocks away.  The sun did not let it feel like an easy walk.  The Alamo was closed for tours by this time but it is definitely on our list to get inside.  It is absolutely beautiful.

It's actually kind of surreal to look around at this place where lives were lost and a battle went down to look across the street at the Ripley's and wax museum.  The tourism creates an odd environment.

It was a fun day in San Antonio with a long trip home.
