Carve a Watermelon for the Fourth of July

Our fourth of July started off bright and early with some neighborhood events.  There was a small parade that was capped off by the firetruck spray!

There were several little booths set up around the park.  Face painting, bouncers, blow up slides, hair color spraying.......

They had his favorite color!
There were carnival games, a live singer, and lots of families with dogs.  One of the favorite spots.  The foam pit.  This is what we were hoping for in the great dishwasher over suds episode earlier this week!

Nothing but bubbles!  This was a really great idea, kept the ground from getting muddy and the kids loved it.  We headed home to relax, work on a project (details to come) and have a 4th BBQ lunch.  Secret Agent Man wanted to get one of these monstrous watermelons for our 4th but, these things were easily 2 feet long and $8.

I'm glad I convinced him to get a normal sized one.  This is what we created with it after scooping out all of that cherry good redness!

We went to see the fireworks and came home tired.  The perfect ending to a nice holiday!

How was your Holiday?  Has anyone else carved something other than a watermelon?  Please feel free to comment in the comment section below!
