Ladybird Wildflower Center

Last weekend we took a trip to the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center.  It was opened by the former first lady to preserve native plants and as a wildflower sanctuary.

It was beautiful from the buildings to the water features, and of course all of the beautiful plants.

The turtles greet you as you walk in.  I think they were really expecting food!

We climbed to the top of the tower for a beautiful view

Walked through some of the exhibits

And then needed a break from the sun

Strolling under the grapes gave us some relief!

And a perfect sized door leading to a cool escape

We stayed in here and played with puppets, colored pictures and looked at books.

We also walked through a beautiful origami exhibit with origami sculptures like this

We ended the trip with a walk through the gift shop.  Secret Agent Man loved the crickettes and marveled at them being only 19 calories!

We drove away and saw a beautiful road runner cross the road.  As our first spotting, we agreed that Looney Tunes got it right!

We got home just in time for a crazy storm that dumped tons of rain and left us with this after a few hours

The beauty of nature.
